Exit Orte
After the toll booth, follow the signs for Viterbo (SS675). Continue on the SS675 for about 25 km. Take the Aeroporto/Terme exit, then continue along Strada Bagni and Viale Armando Diaz (SS2). Follow the signs for Centro or Università degli Studi della Tuscia – Santa Maria in Gradi.
The congress venue is located at Via Santa Maria in Gradi, 4. A public parking lot is available through the two car entrances on Via Sabotino and Via Tedeschi.

Connections from Rome to Viterbo

FROM ROMA TERMINI RAILWAY STATION TO VITERBO

Suggested route

Take any train from Roma Termini to Orte

                  Roma Termini → Orte (Regional or Intercity train)
Duration: approx. 35–50 minutes
Frequency: at least one train per hour
Cost: Regional €5.60; Intercity €9–12 (reservation required)
 

You may book in advance the CONFERENCE SHUTTLE (9-seater vehicle) that will pick up and drop off participants at Orte train station in the following days and times:
-September 9th, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
(mainly for pick-up from Orte train station to the conference venue in Viterbo)
-September 12th, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
(mainly for drop-off from the conference venue in Viterbo to Orte train station)

In days and times not covered by the shuttle, there are three options to reach Viterbo from Orte railway station (to be used also in case of unavailability of the conference shuttle)

OPTION A: Fast Shuttle bus line from Orte station to Via San Camillo de Lellis 32. Please check timetable on http://www.gruppovitertur.it/it/servizi/linea-rapida-orte-viterbo-8/ (about 25 min, € 7-10)

OPTION B: Regional train via Attigliano/Alviano (approx. 1 hour, €4.00–5.00). It stops in Viterbo Porta Fiorentina

OPTION C: Cotral bus from Orte Scalo to Viterbo Riello (approx. 1 hour, €3.00–4.00)

Alternative Route

A limited number of trains travel directly from Roma Termini to Viterbo Porta Fiorentina station. Please note that most of these direct trains depart from platforms 1 and 2 ‘Est’ (external), which are located approximately 700 meters from the main platform 1 of Roma Termini station. If you have a connecting train, be sure to allow enough time to reach these external platforms.

FROM ROMA FIUMICINO AIRPORT TO VITERBO

                  Train Fiumicino Airport → Roma Trastevere
(Line FL1 – regional train connecting Fiumicino Airport with major stations in  Rome, approx. 30 min, €8.00). Change train
                  Train Roma Trastevere → Viterbo Porta Romana
(Line FL3 – regional train connecting Rome with Viterbo, approx. 2h–2h10, €5.60)

Viterbo Porta Romana Station is at walking distance from the conference venue and from the main accommodations downtown

Note: “FL” stands for “Ferrovie Laziali” – suburban/regional train lines operating in the Lazio region.

FROM ROMA CIAMPINO AIRPORT TO VITERBO

Ciampino Airport → Ciampino Railway Station: Cotral or Atral bus (~15 min, €1.50–2.00)
Ciampino → Roma (Ostiense/Trastevere/Tiburtina): Train (~15–20 min, €1.50–2.10)
OPTION A: Direct train from Roma Ostiense or Roma Trastevere (FL3, ~2h, €5.60)
OPTION B: Via Orte (see above)

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN VITERBO

Most accommodation in downtown Viterbo is within a 30-minutes walking distance of the conference venue. Here are some public transportation options for your convenience

To the conference venue (Via Santa Maria in Gradi): service is provided by two circular lines (A and B) and line 11 (this latter mostly suitable for those staying in San Martino al Cimino).
Ticket Information:

• Cost: €1.00 from authorized vendors; €1.50 if purchased on board.
• Validity: 90 minutes from validation.

Please note: Taxis can be booked in advance from Roma (airports and railway stations), or from Orte railway station. The transfer from Orte to Viterbo typically costs between €50 and €60.
